This is “Analog Agent Benjamin” coming at you this week with…. Daylight Savings Time

I do not know who came up with the idea of Daylight Savings Time, but it was the worst idea ever. When you’re a kid it can get real annoying. You get use to an every day time line (the days are long, and the nights are short), only to have to change everything for the next few months (short days, long nights). The worst part was having to set every clock in the house back or forth every time. My Dad was the one who hated it the most, one time he even wanted to move the whole family to Arizona, since they do not have Daylight Savings Time there. But my Mom talked him out of it.

So, does anyone else here hate Daylight Savings Time as much as me?

“Though mentioned by Benjamin Franklin in 1784, the modern idea of daylight saving was first proposed in 1895 by George Vernon Hudson [8] and it was first implemented during the First World War. Many countries have used it at various times since then.”

I’m really glad that most of my clocks are smart enough to deal with the time change nowadays. I have to poke at the stove and microwave clocks but the computer and phone just kinda… change.

I love how my phone doesn’t allow itself to be set to my timezone, it sets itself to the same timezone… But in a different country with different rules about daylight savings so there’s like a week in which the clock is wrong. And don’t you dare try to manually set the time backwards or forwards, because it will go into your calendar and move EVERY SINGLE APPOINTMENT to compensate for the now changed time.

        Windows phone: Never again.

I hate it not ending before Halloween these days, but I guess some parents don’t like their kids out in the dark these days.

I know, it just does not feel like Halloween when you see kids trick or treating in the day time or at the mall. 🙁

Ugh, I loathe Daylight Saving Time. I watch this video every time change to remind myself how stupid it is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84aWtseb2-4

Yes, yes, Daylight Savings Time is stupid. It just forces fireworks displays to start an hour later.
