I had to seek out a few other songs from this album and now Do the Donkey Kong is stuck in my head 😛

    1. gabe says:

Ha! Ha! That’s a good song too!

      1. Chris Sobienik says:

I like Hyperspace and Froggy’s Lament myself.

  2. Matthew Koh says:

That’s Cool, but did you ACTUALLY played Pac-man in an ACTUAL arcade before you start listening?

    1. gabe says:

I played it at Pizza Hut, does that count?

      1. Chris Sobienik says:

I don’t know what was my first time playing it myself. I recall my local Pizza Hut having the tabletop cocktail table version of that game too.

I had the album on cassette and played the hell out of it. Just a few years ago I got it on CD. Hyperspace and Berzerk are my favorites.

    1. gabe says:

Ha! I totally forgot about this song for about 10 years, then I heard it again when it was released on CD in the 90’s.

  4. Savage says:

I also had it on tape and would jam to it on my boombox.

    1. gabe says:

      Jammin’ on the one!

I had the album. The cover photo, so close to the screen it was dissolving into individual phosphor dots, was pop art.

Now I have it as mp3s in my huge collection. I USUALLY don’t skip it when it comes up.

“Go ahead, run your little legs off – do you have Nikes for all of them? Oooh-oh, Centipide. You can’t run away. You can’t run away.”

    1. gabe says:

I remember listening to this album with you!

      1. Chris Sobienik says:

Reminded I did something like that with a camera taking a pic of Ms. Pac-Man’s usual death moment in the game for my amusement.

  6. Chris Sobieniak says:

And just like you, I recall Weird Al’s Lasagna also the same way (though for me, it was a friend sending me a tape copy he ripped from his scratchy record of it).

    1. gabe says:

Oh Weird Al…you are an inspiration to us all.

  7. Manny says:

I had the fever alright. My sister took me to the mall to meet PAC-MAN on national Pac-Man day, April 3rd (if I remember correctly). I desperately wanted the COLECO table top PAC MAN game. I watch the cartoon show. I ate the cereal. Had the t-shirts….

In a way we really haven’t experienced another phenomenon like this until Angry Birds.

    1. gabe says:

Wow! National Pac-Man Day?! That’s amazing! I wanna meet Pac-Man! I had the little LCD Arcade Pac-Man game, that and Pizza Hut were the closest I could get to playing Pac-Man!

Well, I think Pokemon phenom comes close too. 🙂

      1. Chris Sobieniak says:

I had a lot of Pac-Man in my day!

  8. Manny says:

Yeah. It was a guy in this giant hocky puck type costume covered in yellow carpeting. he handed out little lenticular disc stickers featuring his chomping action.
