Jim Henson’s Dinosaurs was one of the best Muppet shows on TV at the time, and was one of the few shows that my Mom and I watched together.

My Mom and I never missed an episode; it was a very fun show. The one episode I will always remember was the very last one were all the Dinosaurs went extinct. The show run for about 4 season, and when everyone found out it was going to end, they ended it the only why they could with a show about Dinosaurs; they all went extinct. It was a very sad episode that my Mom and I cried when the show was over.

Were any of you also said to see it end the way it did?

Saturday Morning Cartoon: The New Adventures of He-Man

This was one of those cartoon sequels that I thought was going to be great because it was picking up right after the first series, but then after I saw the first episode I was only completely disappointed with it instead.

As you can see, this series was nothing like old the He-man & She-Ra series. Other then He-Man & Skeletor, none of the other heroes & villains from the He-Man & She-Ra series ever showed up, and the animation of the series just looked plane dull and boring. The new version Skeletor just looked awful, he looked like someone just took an old skull mask and put on a rip-off of Darth Vader, and the new version of He-Man looked like a rip-off of Flash Gordon. In fact, the whole series looked like a rip-off of Flash Gordon, and they just added the He-Man name to it to make it look better.

Were any of you as disappointed as I was? Why do they have to ruin everything?

Saturday Morning Cartoon: Fish Police

Fish Police was another show that tried to be like the Simpsons, only to fail.

The Show is like Dick Tracy, but with Fish. That is the best way I can sum-up this show. The thing is, it was not a bad show, but it was not that good either. Also, from what I can remember, only 3 of the 6 episodes of this series aired on TV before it got canned; which was a shame, since I did like this show a lot more than Capitol Critters-and that show had almost all its episodes aired on TV.

I also can’t help but think that all the female fish in this series looked like Jessica Rabbit from “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”.

Did you know that this show was based on a Comic Book series?

Saturday Morning Cartoon: The Legend of Zelda

This is “Analog Agent Benjamin” coming at you this week with…. The Legend of Zelda

The Legend of Zelda was another hit game that got a cartoon series back in the 80’s, but unlike the others, it only aired on a show that was for another game (The Super Mario Bros. Super Show).

There are two things that I did not like about this cartoon, one was how they changed Link from a hero into a smug, ignorant jerk with an annoying catch phrase, and the other was just they were airing this cartoon on the The Super Mario Bros. Super Show. This made no sense to me at the time.

I sometimes think this is why many video game heroes in todays games do not talk, becuase everyone remembers how annoying Link was in this series.

Were any of you as annoyed with this series as I was when it was on?

Saturday Morning Cartoon: Dinosaucers

This was another one of those odd cartoon series that was made in the 80’s.

It was a show about alien dinosaurs from space, that’s about all I could say about this series expect that dinosaurs with humanoid bodies look really weird. Other than that, it was a very forgettable show.

So, did anyone else see this show when it was on?

Saturday Morning Cartoon: Toxic Crusaders

You start to hear the sounds of the morning, the wind rustling the leaves, the chirping of the birds and that’s when you realize what day it is–Saturday! Cartoons! Toxic Crusaders was yet another cartoon series based on a hit movie from the 80’s (the Toxic Avenger). It was made at a time when everyone was getting into environmental issues like pollution.

Now while I thought this was an O.K. series and I just love the theme song, I only ever saw about 3 episodes from this series as a kid. It was one of those shows that was only on local TV channels like KaCal12 and as on at about 4:30 AM in the morning, and I did not get up until 6:00 AM, so it was not very hard to miss this show at all.

Now am I the only one here that finds it odd that they could make a kids cartoon based on a super gory R Rated horror movie?

Saturday Morning Cartoon: Beetlejuice

Beetlejuice was another mid 80’s cartoon based on a hit 80’s movie of the same name, and to me, was much better than the movie it was based on.

Now while the cartoon series was good, they did make some changes from the movie to make this more kid friendly for Saturday Morning TV. For starters, Beetlejuice himself was changed from a pervert into a fun loving trouble maker, Lydia Deetz was changed from a Depressed Goth Teenager into a Happy Goth Girl, and the Maitlands (the most significant characters in the movie) are nowhere to be found in the series. But other than that, it was a very fun show to watch.

Did any of you find it odd when the series moved from ABC to the Fox Network? How much punny-er can one show be?

Saturday Morning Cartoon: Little Shop

You start to hear the sounds of the morning, the wind rustling the leaves, the chirping of the birds and that’s when you realize what day it is–Saturday! Cartoons! All week long you’ve been starved of cartoons, and now it is your time to feast! You throw off the covers, shove your feet in your slippers and sprint downstairs!

This is “Analog Agent Benjamin” coming at you this week with…. Little Shop

Little Shop was based on a hit re-make movie from the 80’s called Little Shop of Horrors, but unlike the movie it was based on, this series was just not good.

This series took everything that was good about the movie, butchered it, and remade it into something that was not very fun to watch. You see, Little Shop of Horrors was the first Horror movie I ever saw with my Mom, and we both thought it was a fun & scary movie. So when I found out that there was going to be a cartoon series based on it, I thought it was going to be good, boy was I wrong.

So, did anyone else here see this show when it was on? And if so, did you think it was the worst cartoon ever made?

Back when I was a kid, I thought that the Super Mario Bros. Super Show was the Best Video Game Cartoon ever, and after all these years, it’s still the Best.

This was a great show, and what made it even better was that it was also on weekday afternoons, so when I got back home from school, I would always try and watch it before my dad got home to watch the news. The only time it was bad was when they remade it for the 90’s as Club Mario and took out the live-action Mario Bros. parts and replaced them with two Bill & Ted rip-offs as hosts. Now if you pardon me, it’s time to “Do the Mario”.

So, did you ever watch the Super Mario Bros. Super Show? How many times did you “Do the Mario”?

Saturday Morning Cartoon: Attack of the Killer Tomatoes

You start to hear the sounds of the morning, the wind rustling the leaves, the chirping of the birds and that’s when you realize what day it is–Saturday! Cartoons! This is “Analog Agent Benjamin” coming at you this week with… Attack of the Killer Tomatoes

Does anyone here remember when Fox started its own line-up of Saturday Morning Cartoons? Well I do, and one of the first Fox cartoons I ever saw was Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (based on the Attack of the Killer Tomatoes movies).

This cartoon was one of the “It’s so silly, it’s fun” shows that I would love to watch as a kid. Like the movies, the series was about the “Angry” Scientist Dr. Putrid T. Gangreen and his army of Mutated Killer Tomatoes trying to take over the world, only to be stopped every time by a group of unlikely heroes like Tara Boumdeay (a tomato turned human), F.T. (a fur-covered tomato), Chad Finletter, and Wilbur Finletter (the Great Tomato War veteran).

So, did anyone here see this show when it was on? And if so, what did you think of it?
