Beg your Mom for some quarters, jump on your bike, ride down to that dark, smokey, noisy and slightly dangerous home for one of your video games– the Arcade!

This is “Analog Agent Benjamin” coming at you this week with…. The Tengen NES Games

Do you remember getting a Tengen NES game as a kid and noticing how different they looked from other NES games, or how most of the games were made by Sega for a Nintendo game system? Or how about the fact that the Tengen version of Tetris looked much different than the Nintendo version?

This is “Analog Agent Benjamin” coming at you this week with…. The Legend of Zelda

The Legend of Zelda was another hit game that got a cartoon series back in the 80’s, but unlike the others, it only aired on a show that was for another game (The Super Mario Bros. Super Show).

There are two things that I did not like about this cartoon, one was how they changed Link from a hero into a smug, ignorant jerk with an annoying catch phrase, and the other was just they were airing this cartoon on the The Super Mario Bros. Super Show. This made no sense to me at the time.

I sometimes think this is why many video game heroes in todays games do not talk, becuase everyone remembers how annoying Link was in this series.

Were any of you as annoyed with this series as I was when it was on?

This is “Analog Agent Benjamin” coming at you this week with…. Filmation

Back in the 80’s there were 5 companies that made cartoon shows for TV, one of the best known in my opinion was Filmation.

Every time I saw that logo at the start of cartoons like He-Man, She-Ra, and many others, I knew I was in for a good show. What set Filmation apart from the other companies that made cartoons in the 80’s was that they made all of their cartoons in the U.S.A, while everyone else was having their cartoons made in Canada or overseas. To them, if the cartoon was going to be aired on U.S. TV, it should be made in the U.S. as well.

So, what was your favorite Filmation cartoon as a kid?

This is “Analog Agent Benjamin” coming at you this week with…. Cheerios

As much as I liked the TV ads for cereals like Trix, Luck Charms, and so on, the only cereal my Mom would get me was Cheerios.

You see, my Mom did not like the idea of me eating any cereals that had the words “Sugar”, “Chocolate”, or “Marshmallows” on the box. So when I asked for stuff like Fruit Loops, Trix, or Frosted Flakes, she would always get me Cheerios, Kix, or Wheaties instead. None of them were bad, but it would have been nice to at least try one of the other cereals for once. The only time I ever got to get anything other than Cheerios was when I was at a friend’s house and he had a box of Lucky Charms. I tried them out, and they just tasted awful.

So, what kind of cereals did you eat when you were a kid?

This is “Analog Agent Benjamin” coming at you this week with…. Toxic Crusaders

Toxic Crusaders was yet another cartoon series based on a hit movie from the 80’s (the Toxic Avenger). It was made at a time when everyone was getting into environmental issues like pollution.

Now while I thought this was an O.K. series and I just love the theme song, I only ever saw about 3 episodes from this series as a kid. It was one of those shows that was only on local TV channels like KaCal12 and as on at about 4:30 AM in the morning, and I did not get up until 6:00 AM, so it was not very hard to miss this show at all.

Now am I the only one here that finds it odd that they could make a kids cartoon based on a super gory R Rated horror movie?

This is “Analog Agent Benjamin” coming at you this week with…. Nintendo Game Boy

The Nintendo Game Boy was one of the best handheld game systems I ever played as a kid.

I remember when I got this as a Christmas gift as a kid. I first I did not like the fact that it was only in black & white, but after I played with the game that came with it (Super Mario Land), I was hooked. I played it for many years until it just stopped working in 2006. Man, they just don’t make game system that last that long anymore.

So, did anyone else have a game boy when you were a kid? After getting it, did you feel bored again–EVER? What kind of Game Boy games do you remember playing?
