You start to hear the sounds of the morning, the wind rustling the leaves, the chirping of the birds and that’s when you realize what day it is–Saturday! Cartoons! All week long you’ve been starved of cartoons, and now it is your time to feast! You throw off the covers, shove your feet in your slippers and sprint downstairs!

Grab that big bowl of C-3POs, adjust the antennae and plop down on the floor for your weekly dose of animated fun!

This is “Analog Agent Benjamin” coming at you this week with…. Toxic Crusaders

Toxic Crusaders was yet another cartoon series based on a hit movie from the 80’s (the Toxic Avenger). It was made at a time when everyone was getting into environmental issues like pollution.

Now while I thought this was an O.K. series and I just love the theme song, I only ever saw about 3 episodes from this series as a kid. It was one of those shows that was only on local TV channels like KaCal12 and as on at about 4:30 AM in the morning, and I did not get up until 6:00 AM, so it was not very hard to miss this show at all.

Now am I the only one here that finds it odd that they could make a kids cartoon based on a super gory R Rated horror movie?

  1. Yeah I thought it was weird, especially after I went back and re-watched the old movies, I couldn’t believe it.

I think this one falls under the same category as attack of the killer tomatoes. A cartoon based on a movie my parents would NEVER let me see. I remember the toys based on this series were spectacular. http://www.virtualtoychest.com/toxic/toxic.html I had most of these and still managed to only see about 2 episodes of the show, so I had a hard time telling who was a bad guy and who was good. Oh childhood

The show was animated by Fred Wolf Films BTW, same people behind TMNT at the time.
