  1. I was afraid of the dark up until I was 22 years old. One night my step sisters were supposed to be watching me (I don’t recall the age, I was still pretty young) and instead of actually watching me they locked me in a dark closet for 8 hours, where I cried and pounded on the door until I exhausted myself out and fell asleep.

No wonder you were afraid of the dark for so long! That’s one cruel thing to do to a kid!

        Stepsisters even!

Remember the Tunnel at Kaufmann’s park under 72?

    1. gabe says:

I do, but that wasn’t that scary. I’m sure there were a couple murders in there though!

Where I grew up in Queens there was a dirt alley that ran behind the entire neighborhood. None of the kids knew what it was for. It was the only block for miles that had one of these. It was rumored that a dead body was found back there and ever since it was called “DEAD MANS ALLEY”. No one ever dared to walk through it, or even ride their bike even thought it would clearly be a short cut to the other side of the block and it was riddled with bumps and hills.

When we all got older we realized the ally existed merely for garbage trucks to drive through but we never forgot the romance of have growing up like the GOONIES with this forbidden mysterious zone so close to us all.

Man, that’s a great story! I love to hear all about places like this! There was a cornfield by my friend’s house that had the same dreadful reputation!

Sadly there were no dark tunnels in my childhood to be afraid of, only snakes and an older brother who taunt me with ’em!

    1. gabe says:

Yikes! Yeah, sometimes older brothers are far worse then soul sucking demons…

Like mine who would do stupid things like lock me in dark closets or force my foot down on a pile of dog crap just to be a jerk. Those were my painful memories.

  5. Places like this are perfect for rape-ings.

  6. That was a close one. I really thought that soul sucking demon almost had him.
