Ah, Saturday Morning. I still get a slight twinge of excitement on Friday nights because of the Pavlovian conditioning of cartoon saturday mornings of yesteryear.

Too bad the best you get on Saturday morning outside cable is news and infomercials.

        What’s up with that?

I wish I knew, you’d think grown-ups would do the wise thing and stay in bed!

Saturday’s were magical. I am old enough to remember stations that were off the air prior to running the kid shows. I’d get up early to eat cereal while waiting for the famous Indian Head test pattern to show, the national anthem being played, and then the magic begins. Kid shows would last to around 2pm in the 70’s. Later the cartoon/kid shows block got smaller and smaller toward the late 80’s often times replaced with sports like golf. The best Saturdays are when dad or mom don’t try to force chores on you. Blasphemy to do work on a Saturday I say!

Saturday’s were literally your reward for doing stuff like chores! That totally defeats the purpose!
