Grab that big bowl of C-3POs, adjust the antennae and plop down on the floor for your weekly dose of animated fun!

This week: Galaxy Rangers

I didn’t watch this show too often when I was younger, but I do remember that the animation was amazing. Watching again, I can see that my memory wasn’t far off.

This show was animated by TMS, the same studio that brought us other great shows like Mighty Orbots and Bionic Six. Released in 1986, this series ran for only one season but it consisted of 65 episodes. It follows, you guessed it, the Galaxy Rangers. They are an elite force of bionic space cowboys, each with specific abilities.

The series might seem a little weird at first, but it has a series long story arc and “revolutionary computer-generated” graphics.

I’ve only watched a few, but they are all on Hulu right now for free! Check ’em out:

Weird, I was just thinking about this show completely unprovoked last night. I don’t remember much of it except for the one where the one guy gets sucked into a black hole and when he comes out he starts transforming into some sort of demon/devil/dinosaur thing.

Whoa that sounds kinda cool. Good thing he wasn’t crushed to death.

Well it’s an 80’s cartoon, they had to go with mutation instead to give us the willies!

I loved this cartoon. It was on at some ungodly hour before I would leave for school. The animation was amazing and it was a nice compliment to my 4:30 pm viewing of BIONIC SIX. Also, BEVERLY HILLS TEENS was on right after this. Hate to admit I liked that too.

Ha! I remember Beverly Hills Teens! Yikes! Wasn’t that on around the same time that the Police Academy cartoon?

FYI: the same studio that made Galaxy Rangers also made Bionic Six 🙂

Also helps to know Osamu Dezaki directed both Mighty Orbots and Bionic Six (though neither show had his trademarked “Postcard Memories” shtick, but that’s OK).

I watched Beverly Hills Teens too. I think that show came out in ’87 and the Police Academy cartoon in ’89, though I wouldn’t be surprised if BHT had been aired for a few years depending on what station had it (since it was syndicated).

Thanks, this worked great. I have what may be a silly quoesitn. Does this method affect OTA upgrade to 905 which is currently asked. The reason I ask is that everytime I try to upgrade if fails. I have rooted of course and am running 902, but cannot upgrade. I have not removed bloatware or frozen any apps. But, I have read if any system files are changed then the upgrade won’t work. If it affects being able to upgrade can I undo these changes, upgrade and then re-do the changes?
