You start to hear the sounds of the morning, the wind rustling the leaves, the chirping of the birds and that’s when you realize what day it is–Saturday! Cartoons! All week long you’ve been starved of cartoons, and now it is your time to feast! You throw off the covers, shove your feet in your slippers and sprint downstairs!

Grab that big bowl of C-3POs, adjust the antennae and plop down on the floor for your weekly dose of animated fun!

This week: Wuzzles

Created by Michael Eisner, this was the shortest run for a Disney show and actually the first one they did (even though it premiered the same day as Gummi Bears).

This show is hard to watch, but the animation is amazing. For how bad everything else is, the animation is that much better. I’m guessing since it was their first show, they really put a lot of time in training the overseas studio or something, because wow these move great. Strong poses, great spacing and timing, and drawn to be super solid.

I remember liking this as a kid until I laid my little eyes on Gummi Bears. What about you? Are you a Gummi Bear or a Wuzzle?

I dug both shows but if I had to make a choice it’d be Gummi Bears!

This show really inspired my subconscious, I was surprised they only made a few episodes though.

It’s hard to say which show I preferred though as they seemed so much different to me, the votes not in yet for me. Thanks for sharing!

I really like the narrator’s voice. I wish there would be more like that.

      1. jwbalsley says:

Yeah, it’s kind of like your classic narrator, slightly sarcastic a bit too.

While I liked the Wuzzles, I was more of a Gummi Bears fan.

      Me too, by far.

I liked The Wuzzles a lot, and strangely enough, i saw a lot more of it than i did The Gummi Bears. I’m not really sure why. I was in pre-school at the time, maybe it was better situated for when i got home.

I think the animation in this show was handled by Tokyo Movie Shinsha, that explains why it was good!

    1. gabe says:

Yep! A lot of the early Disney stuff was.

the Wuzzles was my favorite show. I had all the stuffed versions of every character. Still have some. I remember the Gummi Bears as a thing that existed but couldn’t tell you anything about the show.

    1. gabe says:

Wow! That’s like the complete opposite from me, except I didn’t have any Gummi Bears dolls, just the candy 🙂
