Welcome to a new feature here on Life In The Analog Age! I wanted to return to the tradition of times past, the Saturday Morning Cartoon. Saturday mornings used to be your reward for surviving the week of school, your time to be thrown into fantasy worlds or laugh at silly talking animals. You had your favorites, tried out new shows, and watched every second before that football or baseball game came on.
Every week I’ll feature a cartoon. Hopefully I’ll be able to find an entire episode and post it right here. Please, if you have any cartoon memories chime in! Have a cartoon to add to the list? Email me!
Well, here we go, back to those days of old:
You start to hear the sounds of the morning, the wind rustling the leaves, the chirping of the birds and that’s when you realize what day it is–Saturday! Cartoons! All week long you’ve been starved of cartoons, and now it is your time to feast! You throw off the covers, shove your feet in your slippers and sprint downstairs!
Grab that big bowl of C-3POs, adjust the antennae and plop down on the floor for your weekly dose of animated fun!
This week: Pole Position
In 1984 I declared this my favorite cartoon of all time! What about you?
Pole Positiooooooon! Sit back and watch them go-oo-oh!
Love it. Great new feature! What’s next? BraveStarr? Bucky O’Hare? Biker Mice From Mars??!!!
Those are all great 🙂 Stay tuned to see next week! 🙂
Pole Position was pretty great! I have fond memories of The Raccoons, although i’m not sure if that was really on Saturday mornings. Space Cats was so great too, and it was so sad that NBC switched to news in the morning mid-season!
Ha! I remember the Racoons! Do you remember ShirtTales?
Hahah Space Cats! And that reminded me of another bizzarre creation – Samurai Pizza Cats?!!!
Yes I do, that show was crazy! I liked it!
